Yokoya

横谷奈歩は、世界を捏造する。

床から2mの高さに取り付けられた、
どこに通じているか分からない謎のドア。
＜あの中のできごと＞において、横谷は、
かつてある場所に実在したこのドアの向こう側を想像し、
その妄想世界を、自身や友人による演劇的映像で「再現」する。

ベッドの上をふわふわと跳ねる「宇宙飛行士」、
ひとり笑い叫ぶ狂人、奇怪なキメラ生物など、
キッチュでチープな異形の者たちが跋扈する部屋。
今や、「別の世界」という夢は、
自らの日常のいびつな変奏によってのみ立ち現れる。









Naho Yokoya fabricates the world.

Things Happening In There (2002) was made with
inspiration from a mysterious door that somehow
used to be on a wall approximately two meters above
the floor of an old building.

Drawing only from her imagination, she makes a theatrical
video, starring herself and her close friends, in which she
tries to “reproduce” what was happening behind the door.

She knows that nothing but things in everyday life, today,
can be converted into “another world.”
